Day Treatment Program Description

Together, CYPDC and PSCI have ten clinics throughout
Arkansas which provide day treatment services for special needs children birth through six years of age.  We provide a complete range of medical and mental health services for children who qualify and their families.  All patients seeking day treatment services must be referred to us by their Primary Care Physician.  Children admitted for these services may be covered by insurance, either private or state funded.  Day treatment services are available at these sites Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 am until 5:30 pm.  However, if it is determined that a family is in need of services at different times, arrangements are made to accommodate this need.  A toll-free number is also provided to all patients and families which provides access to a Mental Health Professional 24 hours a day, seven days a week for crisis intervention.

Typical diagnoses for children admitted and treated through our day treatment program are asthma, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, speech/language disorders, Down’s Syndrome, cleft palate, premature birth, chronic otitis media, diabetes, sickle cell anemia, neglect, malnutrition, Down’s Syndrome, social or emotional concerns, and mental disabilities/ disorders, including psychiatric conditions and family disruption.  Children must have a qualifying diagnosis and demonstrate a need for treatment.

Upon admission for day treatment, the clinic’s Medical Director completes a physical and our team of specialists completes developmental evaluations on each patient. We have a multi-disciplinary team of qualified staff whose primary focus is the treatment of the patient.  These team members include, but are not limited to, Developmental, Behavioral, and Adolescent Pediatricians, Pediatric Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Psychological Examiners, Licensed Counselors, Registered Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapists, Social Workers, Audiologists, Nutritionists, Early Childhood Developmental Specialists, and Developmental Technicians.

Each clinic employs at least one full-time nurse who monitors medications and the general health of each patient.  Medical personnel coordinate with the patient’s Primary Care Physician and assist the clinic treatment team in evaluating and implementing the medical, developmental, behavioral, and/or therapeutic treatment plan. We believe it is optimal to find and treat the children in need of services before they reach the school system so that they have a better chance of reaching their full potential.  Medical studies show that early intervention accomplishes a number of benefits for children; one of the most dramatic is the reduction of the need for special education services once the child reaches school age.

In addition to the above, we also allow a limited number of spaces in our day treatment program to be filled with siblings of current patients or children of current employees. This allows social and educational opportunities for all of the children enrolled and assists with employee satisfaction.  This program requires weekly payment.  Children participating in daycare services are also eligible for other outpatient services as outlined below.

Outpatient Services Program Description

Outpatient services are available to children and adolescents during the same hours of operation and include a full range of mental health services, including 24-hour crisis intervention. Speech, physical, and occupational therapies are also available to patients who qualify. A referral from the patient’s Primary Care Physician may be required and the need for treatment is determined by the results of the individual assessments and evaluations administered. For these services, patients may be covered by insurance, either private or state funded, or may pay cash. Payment plans are available.

Upon admission, evaluations are conducted and treatment plans, including goals and objectives, are developed which are tailored to meet the patient’s identified needs. Services are administered by skilled professionals through one-on-one therapy sessions, family sessions, and/or group activities.   The treatment plan is a tool used as a framework for care and identifies individual and family strengths, which are used to foster improvement, and individual and family needs, which are targeted as areas in which to establish goals.  These services are currently provided in our day treatment programs and in two stand alone outpatient clinics which serve children and adolescents through 18 years of age. We intend to gradually expand the provision of services to older children and adolescents into all of our other facility locations throughout the state in order to provide services to more children in need.

Throughout every aspect of our wide range of available services, it is our intent to assist children and families in reaching their full potential through therapy and intervention services in order to begin their path to a brighter future.
