Emphasis on Safety
Physical, as well as emotional, safety should be something that each patient and their family is assured of when placing their trust in our organization. Each of our clinics is held to strict health and safety standards in order to maintain a safe environment. Following are some of the ways in which we ensure the health, welfare, and safety of each person entering our facilities:
· We comply with strict local, state, and national licensing and accreditation standards such as those imposed by the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, APS, Arkansas Department of Health, Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education, and various local requirements.
· Strict staff/child ratios are maintained that typically exceed those required by the Division of Child Care Licensing.
· The majority of our staff are trained in CPR/First Aid and 100% of our staff are certified annually to be free of contagious tuberculosis.
· Full-time nurses are employed at each location.
· Regular training on a wide-range of topics is held to ensure that staff members remain abreast of important issues and policies and procedures.
· First-Aid kits and protocols, as well as personal protective equipment, are located in every treatment room, nurse’s office, and vehicle.
· Mental Health Professionals, including licensed counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists, are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure that patients can receive assistance even when our offices are closed.
· Redundancy systems are in place to ensure safety during and after transportation services are utilized.
Health and Safety Plan
CYPDC’s and PSCI’s Health & Safety committee is comprised of members of our staff and governance authority. The committee is chaired by the company’s Health and Safety Officer, Cindy Stone, B.S, R.N., who is also the Clinic Director of the Bryant facility. The committee discusses all matters related to health and safety in our facilities and develops plans to promptly address any concerns and make any modifications needed.
All relevant information and issues of health and safety are promptly communicated to the clinic staff and patients by the Clinic Director, each of whom is a member of the committee. Patients are also play a role in the health and safety plan by participating in emergency drills and other practices such as proper hand washing procedures.
Our health and safety plan also includes the day-to-day safety of our patients and facilities. To address this need we have a written safety plan in our policy and procedures manual that outlines procedures for all emergencies. Drills for fire, earthquake and tornado are conducted monthly; drills for violence prevention are conducted quarterly and mock bomb threats are conducted annually. All drills are analyzed annually to reveal any patterns of increased or decreased performance. Should an actual emergency arise which requires us to seek emergency shelter for our staff and patients, each clinic has a pre-determined location that will be used for temporary shelter. This location is communicated to patients at intake and is posted in the lobby of each clinic. Beyond the use of these facilities we will follow the plan established in the community for temporary shelter until parents/families can be contacted and arrive. |
