Rehabilitative Services for Persons With Mental Illness (RSPMI)
Ascent CHS provides RSPMI services both in-day treatment and outpatient settings for children and families. In addition, 24 hour, on-call and crisis intervention services will be provided to meet emergency treatment needs.
As required, Ascent CHS is certified by Arkansas’s Division of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) and is also accredited by CARF, a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.
The process for providing RSPMI services is similar to CHMS. First, an intake evaluation is completed by a mental health professional. This evaluation leads to a written assessment that evaluates the child’s mental condition and, based upon diagnosis, determines whether treatment in the RSPMI program would be appropriate.
The treatment team must certify that the program is appropriate to meet the child’s needs and this certification must be documented in the child’s medical record within 14 calendar days of the first billable service. The treatment team must include, at a minimum, a physician and a mental health professional qualified by licensure and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. The treatment team must also include the child’s parent/legal guardian.
An individualized treatment plan must be developed for each child who receives RSPMI services. (Note: the RSPMI treatment plan must be separate from the CHMS treatment plan.) The RSPMI treatment plan must be completed by a mental health professional and approved by a psychiatrist or physician. The RSPMI treatment plan must be reviewed at least every 90 calendar days and updated, as appropriate. A child will be discharged from the RSPMI program when the treatment team determines that he/she no longer needs services or can be effectively treated in a less restrictive environment.
Ascent has consulting psychiatrists to oversee RSPMI services. These services are delivered by mental health professionals and paraprofessionals and may include individual, family, group, and play therapy sessions, as well as psychological testing, day treatment, and diagnostic services. Psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management is provided by psychiatrists. Speech therapy services may also be delivered through the RSPMI program. |
